FAQ's

Is the product safe?

Yes.  Go Faux Tanning uses only organic, gluten free, spray solutions containing pharmaceutical grade DHA.  For those concerned with the inhalation of the spray solution, nose filters are available as are barrier cream and disposable undergarments.

Will I turn orange?

No!  Spray Tans have come a long way in recent years.  We offer a range of solutions with various pigment undertones and do a complete skin analysis to avoid undesired color results.  The quality of our products in combination with proper spray prep on the part of the guest ensure a beautiful result.

Not convinced? We are happy to offer a patch test.

How long will the tan last?

Your spray tan will last a minimum of 5 to 7 days with proper after care.  Days 3 and 4 are considered "perfect" tan days.  So if you have an even on Saturday, get your spray on Thursday.

What can I expect during a Spray Tan session?

All first-time tanners find themselves a little apprehensive at the thought of the exposure a spray tan requires.  Fear is the number one reason Gretchen Elizabeth guests cite for not booking a spray tan even though they would really like to try it.

We promise: the spray room is a judgment free zone!  How much or how little clothing you wear during your service is entirely up to you!  Spray Tanning is done in a privatetreatment room on the second floor.  We consider your comfort and privacy to be our number one concern with your service satisfaction running a close second.

When you arrive for your spray tan you will check in with reception as you would do with any other salon service.  You will then be greeted by your tan technician, Jen Albright.  She will escort you to the tanning room.

There you will go over the pre-tan check list.  You will be asked to sign off on the information and care instructions given at this time.  Jen will consult with you on your expectaions and educate you on the products used as well as give you specific after care instructions.

You will be shown the tanning tent and left alone to prepare for your service.  When you are ready, Jen will re-enter the treatment room and your service will begin.

You will be taken through a series of systematic poses that allow for the even distribution of the tanning solution.  The spray itself will last approximately 7 to 10 minutes.  Rest assured, rigorous safety and sanitation measures will be maintained throughout your service.

Once your spray is complete, Jen will again exit the room allowing you to dry in private.  A timer will be set for you.  Drying takes 5 to 10 minutes.  Once your timer is done or your skin feels dry you are free to dress.  Your service is concluded.

What should I wear for my tan?

During your spray service you may wear as much or as little as you are comfortable with.  Most guests wear a dark colored swim suit, a dark colored bra and bottom set, or the disposable thong bottoms we provide.  Some guests prefer to wear nothing at all.

Whatever you choose be aware that our solutions contain cosmetic bronzer that will transfer onto undergarments and clothing.  For this reason, we recommend that you tan in the undergarments we provide or those that are dark colored and made from non-precious material.

To travel home following your service, plan to wear loose fitting, dark colored clothing made from non-precious material. Staining of clothing is rare but it can happen.

Should I do anything before my tan?

Yes!  The better your skin the better your spray tan!  24 to 48hrs pre-tan shave/wax, thoroughly exfoliate and moisturize preferably with sulfate, paraben and fragrance-free products.

Allow a minimum of 8hrs between body moisturizer and spray tan as moisturizers can act as barriers to the spray tan.

How do I take care of my tan?

To care for the Basic Spray Tan; you must not shower with soap, shampoo or conditioner for the first 24 hrs.  You must not shave or wax.  You must avoid sweating, saunas, steam rooms and tight clothing.  You may rinse the cosmetic bronzer from your skin after 8hrs with warm water only - no soap.  Soap deactivates DHA preventing it from developing completely which means you won't get as dark as you could.

After 24hrs to preserve your tan we recommend; use soaps, moisturizers and sunscreens that are sulfate and paraben free.  Moisturize frequently.  Avoid anything that dries your skin - remember dry skin sheds, shedding fades spray tans!

Rapid Spray Tan is cared for in exactly the same way you care for Basic Spray Tan with one exception: showering.  You may shower after the Rapid Spray Tan within 1 to 3 hrs depending on your skin tone and your desired end shade.  You will be told at the time of your spray what is right for you.

What is the difference between a Basic and a Rapid Tan?

The difference between a Basic and a Rapid Tan refers to the type of tanning solution used.  Basic solution takes 24hrs to fully develop.  Rapid solution develops in 1 to 3hrs depending on your skin tone and desired color result.  With Basic solution you may not shower for 24hrs while Rapid solution can be followed by a shower in 1 to 3hrs.

Basic solution is recommended for first time spray tanners and those who are fairer skinned.

Rapid solution is recommended over Basic solution for those who lead a more physically active lifestyle, are tanning last minute before an event or vacation, and or those who simply do not want to wait 24hrs to shower.

What is the difference between a Full Body and Partial Body spray?

A Full Body spray covers the entire body from the tips of your toes to the top of your head.  How much or how little clothing you wear during this service is entirely up to your comfort level and personal preference.

A Partial Body spray covers only certain parts of the body.  You choose between legs only, arms only, or a torso only spray.

The Tan Line Touch Up is intended to blend the lines left from two-piece swim suites and is only for those who naturally have a medium to dark skin tone and therefore tan lines from the sun.  This service will not work for those who are fairer skinned or those who wear a one-piece suite.

Partial Body and Tan Line Touch Up sprays are not recommended for first time tanners.
